In a recent meeting, the chief minister approved the land and a sizable budget for the construction of the UPSTF units in Agra, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Bareilly to further strengthen the STF. A senior officer said that construction has since begun on these buildings.
Another officer from the home department added that while taking forward the expansion of the Noida unit, funds have also been released for its transit hostel, while the government has approved a total amount of Rs 20.46 crore for all the units.
CM Yogi, during a review meeting, was apprised that the UPSTF units in Agra, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, and Bareilly are working from the Police Lines, which makes their task more challenging.
Subsequently, the CM had given orders to release money for the construction of STF’s dedicated buildings in these places. The government has given UPSTF a sizable budget for the land and construction work related to this. According to the information, the construction work started by marking the land as soon as the budget was released.
An officer of the home department added that an amount of Rs 2.84 crore has been sanctioned for the Agra unit of STF, out of which the first instalment of Rs 1.42 crore has been released and the construction work has begun. Similarly, the first instalment, or half of the total amount, was released for the Gorakhpur unit, Prayagraj unit, and Bareilly unit that is Rs 2.53 core, 2.58 core, and 2.28 crore, respectively.
The officer added that in addition, while expanding the Noida unit, Rs 9.62 crore was released for the land of the transit hostel. In this sequence, the land acquisition process for the Ayodhya unit has also been completed.
In Ayodhya, which is a very sensitive area, the state government had approved the formation of an STF unit. Following that approval, a mandate was issued to create 13 posts at the government level. The recruitment process for these posts has also been completed. These posts include 1 DySP, 1 inspector, 4 S-I, 4 computer operators, and 3 Class IV posts.
A letter has been sent to the government for creation of 23 other posts. As soon as the mandate is issued, recruitment will be done for posts of 4 head constables, 16 constables, and 3 constable drivers. Besides, Rs 59.18 lakh has been approved for the purchase of new vehicles.
